Filed Under (Space) by admin on 25-07-2008

The Amazon-1 satellite, with launch planned for 2010, will be the first earth resources satellite developed entirely by Brazil and will be built based on the Platform Multimissão PAM-, medium-sized, also developed by INPE and by Brazilian industries.

Camera for satellite

The Amazon-1 will take on board two cameras. The first is national, with spatial resolution of 40 my ability to imaging of a range of 780 km.

Already the camera RALCam-3, manufactured in England, produce images with resolution of the land area of about 12 meters and with 110km of field of sight. The technology employed in this camera is unprecedented in Brazilian satellites and allow the generation of images with higher definition, able, for example, to monitor the environment and provide the management of natural resources.

Satellite imagery free

Associated satellites of the series CBERS (China Brazil Earth Resources Satellite), the Amazon-1 produces images with greater frequency and greater definition, appropriate to monitor the environment and manage natural resources.

Such images can be used throughout the world, as Brazil, through INPE, adopts the policy of free data, considered public goods and freely available over the Internet.

Platform Multimissão

Amazon-1 satellite will be the first fully developed by BrasilO Amazon-1 satellite is based on Multimissão Platform (MIP), developed by INPE. The PMM is generic platform for satellites in the class of 500 kg. With mass of 250 kg, it provides the necessary resources in terms of power, control, communication and others, to operate in orbit a payload of up to 280 kg.

The current configuration of the Amazon-1 provides the camera Advanced Wide Field Imager (AWFI), being developed by the Brazilian industry. Considering the capacity of PAM, there is scope to include other technical instrument that complements the mission and represents an improvement in technology and applications. The camera British RALCam-3 has the characteristics ideal for that.
